Speaker:

She's a doctor. Hi, I'm Dr. Dovec and she's a dietitian.

Speaker:

Hey, I'm Hannah Schuyler and together we are the weight loss

Speaker:

collab. And today I'm so excited. We

Speaker:

have Chrissy Godwin here of stop by Chrissy. Yes, we are. We are talking

Speaker:

all things style and confidence and mojo and everything that your

Speaker:

clothes really make you feel. Yeah. I'm so excited to be here with these two

Speaker:

boss babes. Oh, yes, we are. Well, welcome. We're so

Speaker:

excited. So just to get started, like, can you just tell us a little bit

Speaker:

about, like, what it is that you do? So about

Speaker:

five years ago, I just kind of was like, I don't know, I want

Speaker:

to do something different. What do I want to do? So I decided that I.

Speaker:

My initial plan did not go how it was supposed to.

Speaker:

I thought I was gonna do a pop up boutique, like all over

Speaker:

the world, like takes Aspen and

Speaker:

all this, this was my idea. So I went to the bank and I was

Speaker:

like, hi, I need a loan. And they were like, yeah, it doesn't work like

Speaker:

that. Oh, wow. That's like kind of how I started. And I was like,

Speaker:

I went home and I was like, oh, man, what am I gonna do now?

Speaker:

And I decided to start styling. Cause I had always just kind of

Speaker:

been. I've done marketing, managing sales, like everything in

Speaker:

retail. So I went home and I was like, I really love styling.

Speaker:

So I just like went for it like cold turkey,

Speaker:

launched my business. Just. No, I had

Speaker:

styling experience from all my years in retail. And like, I've worked for Chanel,

Speaker:

Versace, Bloomingdale's, so I had, I've done everything

Speaker:

in retail. So I just like launched, fully,

Speaker:

went out there, did it, and here I am like five, five years later.

Speaker:

Wow. So I feel like I met you. Kind of at the start of it.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think I was like, very new. But I had been doing this for

Speaker:

so long, like since I was 16. So let me back it up. Let me

Speaker:

tell you how we came to know Chrissy. And so, yes, I

Speaker:

moved to Orlando in 2021 and my

Speaker:

husband was meandering around the mall millennia. And somehow

Speaker:

he was like, hey, there's this like, woman I met that she needs

Speaker:

to help you, she needs to style you. I'm like, who? What? Like, I actually

Speaker:

don't even know how he stumbled and met you. No,

Speaker:

I'm like, I'm only there by appointment. So it was just like, that's a crazy

Speaker:

coincidence. Yeah, I happen to be there and met you.

Speaker:

Yeah. So I need help. I really do

Speaker:

not have the innate ability to stop myself. Like, I just don't have that vision

Speaker:

to see, like, what will look good together. And so

Speaker:

you came into my life, which has been just, like, such a huge.

Speaker:

I really do think that this is so critically important to

Speaker:

ultimately my success and where I even could go. I

Speaker:

need you to help me in all these different aspects of my life.

Speaker:

So when I met you, I had moved here from Baltimore, and I

Speaker:

had JCPenney's circa 1999 stuff in my

Speaker:

closet. This is true. Yeah. So she does

Speaker:

a closet audit. She finds out what I have, and then.

Speaker:

Oh, my God. You're, like, the woman of my dreams, because you pull

Speaker:

from every store in the mall, and then you just pull

Speaker:

everything together, and it's this maximum efficiency that I just,

Speaker:

like, take on and off, on and off. And like, we're like, that works. That

Speaker:

doesn't work. Maybe let's come back to it. Let's add these shoes. Put that belt.

Speaker:

Let's go here. And then it's done. Done. Yeah. I think a lot of

Speaker:

my clients are just so busy that it's like, time is money,

Speaker:

right? And they need someone to come in. And some of them have great

Speaker:

style on their own, but they don't have the time. And then. So what I

Speaker:

do is I go in and I go into the closet. I

Speaker:

literally. I was saying to her earlier, like, I am like, how cutthroat

Speaker:

do you want me to be? Because it's so emotional. Like, oh, I wore this

Speaker:

to my baby shower. I wore this when I got engaged. So, like, I need

Speaker:

to know, like, how much tough love do you want right now? And then I

Speaker:

go in, I take out, like, what needs to go. And then

Speaker:

after that, we create a list of what you need. So

Speaker:

literally, like, in the notes, I'm like, okay, you're missing things. Like, most

Speaker:

people actually have. They have a lot of stuff, but

Speaker:

they don't have, like, like, full outfits or full

Speaker:

looks. So, like, when I first went into your closet, you had a lot of

Speaker:

stuff. A lot of it had to go. You guys, here's

Speaker:

the visual. You know, like, that. Like, if the wind blows, that clanking hanger

Speaker:

that's kind of remains and just, like, you know, like, if the air turns on,

Speaker:

like, you might see a hanger just flapping in the breeze. That was what was

Speaker:

left, I think, of the collection. Oh, yeah. I, like, went through. I was like,

Speaker:

this needs to go. Like, how many years old is this? Like, What? I've had

Speaker:

clients that have teenagers, and they still have maternity, and

Speaker:

I'm like, this has to go. Like, we're not even close. Not going to be.

Speaker:

You don't need that anymore. Yeah. So it's kind of cool because people

Speaker:

don't realize, like, they have so much, but they don't have full

Speaker:

outfits. So you'll buy, like, a pink shoe, oddly, before

Speaker:

you'll buy, like, a tan shoe that goes with everything.

Speaker:

So, yeah, people have things, but not full outfits. So that's when I

Speaker:

come in and I'm like, let's create. Like, let's make your life easier.

Speaker:

Like, let's actually have a capsule wardrobe. Yeah. I was just gonna

Speaker:

say. Is that something you kind of. Yeah, I love a capsule wardrobe. It's kind

Speaker:

of boring. You can kind of mix and match anything. Like, okay, you can

Speaker:

wear this top with all these pants, or vice versa, whatever it might be.

Speaker:

And it's like. And that way, it's. It's like, even though you're.

Speaker:

It's less stuff, but it's less effective. Oh, yeah. You

Speaker:

can create so many more outfits because it all goes together. Oh, I feel like

Speaker:

that's a lot. Of times we're kind of past that because you have those already.

Speaker:

That's like, in the beginning phases of a client. Right. I'm like, we're starting

Speaker:

with a capsule. And then, like, this is an outfit by me. This is not

Speaker:

a capsule. This is like, we. We've. We're in a different chapter

Speaker:

now. Yes. You guys, I'm like, it's boring. And then it becomes fun.

Speaker:

Yes. We're in the fun phase. It is fun. She is. She

Speaker:

clearly. You're fun. You're fun. You're wild. You're just so personable.

Speaker:

Like, you are. You're just. I try to bring the energy. You do bring

Speaker:

the always. It's a really cool experience. Yeah. One that I would

Speaker:

recommend for anyone. Yeah. Yeah. Really on budgets and all of

Speaker:

that, too. High and low. You have to do it. I'm gonna do it. I'm

Speaker:

gonna hold you to it. I know. When I just. Well, it's like, just get

Speaker:

through pregnancy. Yeah. You have to get that. Sorry, we're not styling for

Speaker:

pregnancy. I'm gonna be in my jeggings again like I was last time.

Speaker:

I was a little bit. I was thinking about that the other day because I'm,

Speaker:

like, just starting to get to the point where, like, a lot of my clothes

Speaker:

are not fitting and, like, just not comfortable and stuff. I was like, what did

Speaker:

I do last pregnancy. Like cuz I didn't buy maternity pants. I

Speaker:

didn't like do the maternity thing and I was like, what did I wear?

Speaker:

Cuz I was pregnant three weeks and I was stretchy pants and

Speaker:

I literally. It's like jeggings from like the grocery store. Yeah. I'm like,

Speaker:

you know what? I don't care. I think that in that era, I

Speaker:

think that that is just perfect. Comfort is. Comfort is.

Speaker:

And I think for a client like you during pregnancy, I'm going to tell you,

Speaker:

like we don't do high end. We do. We. We go for like the. More

Speaker:

like Zaras the mangoes. Right? You know? Absolutely. Because you're not going to

Speaker:

wear it for very long. No investment pieces. No investment pieces. That's how she says

Speaker:

it. So that you're like, well it's an investment. I

Speaker:

swear my husband would be like, what's the, what's the return on this

Speaker:

investment? What's the ROI here on this? But actually I know I Data

Speaker:

finance, bro. He's like, that's not an investment. I'm like, guess what investment means. I'm

Speaker:

like, all my money's in my closet. But you know what though? I do think

Speaker:

it is. I actually will argue on this because

Speaker:

so I came to Florida obviously to be a

Speaker:

part of a health system. And when I was working there, like I would

Speaker:

start, I would, I felt like the way I looked when, after I met

Speaker:

you and I started wearing these like really put together outfits and like my shoes

Speaker:

and I was like on point in a way that like again I couldn't do

Speaker:

myself all of a sudden. Like people will treat you differently

Speaker:

and unfortunately or fortunately that is a reality. True. Yeah. I mean you

Speaker:

do, you get a level of confidence, but also it's an investment in yourself.

Speaker:

You're your brand. Yeah. You know, so I think it is an investment

Speaker:

and I feel like you show up more confident

Speaker:

when you feel like you have a good outfit on. Absolutely. Well, it can set

Speaker:

the tone for your day. Yeah, it does for sure. And like moving from Baltimore

Speaker:

to Florida. Too, like that's just two different seasons.

Speaker:

Northerners. Well, I'm not, I'm from. Oh you're not. Okay. You lived in

Speaker:

Baltimore. Yeah, I'm from

Speaker:

Florida. But. But even just like the style here would be different than a

Speaker:

northern city. Like what people wear, the colors are different. So it's like

Speaker:

just starting to integrate into this culture

Speaker:

a little bit like versus what you kind of might wear

Speaker:

in a big city, you know, bigger city or northern city. Whatever. You

Speaker:

have to really, like. Yeah, you have to kind of, like, figure out your Florida

Speaker:

style when you hear it's like, it's totally different. It is. You're so right.

Speaker:

And then with that, I want to spend a lot of time

Speaker:

for our patients or people who might be not

Speaker:

our patients or just on this weight loss journey. And I know you have a

Speaker:

lot of clients who maybe are on an end where

Speaker:

they're gaining weight or they're losing weight. And how do you style them

Speaker:

where they are in that moment and make them feel like the size that you're

Speaker:

at now is fine? Or maybe, like you said, maybe this isn't your end part

Speaker:

because you're on that journey and you know you're going to lose more, but you

Speaker:

need. You need pieces. Yeah. I tend to see them like

Speaker:

patients, clients, same thing. I tend to see them usually

Speaker:

the beginning, like, hey, I'm in a rut. Like, I feel like

Speaker:

my clothes. Like, I don't want to invest a lot because

Speaker:

I am. I'm not the weight that I want to be, but I

Speaker:

still want to show up, because I think we tend to

Speaker:

when we're in that moment and we've all been there, you gain, you lose.

Speaker:

You feel like, I don't want to get dressed up. I want to

Speaker:

be in my comfy clothes. But you don't feel confident,

Speaker:

you know, so you're like. I feel kind of like, I call it a slob

Speaker:

kebab. You just, like, you don't want to. You don't want to. Like, you're

Speaker:

showing up in, like, your leggings, and you're just kind of, like, throwing stuff together.

Speaker:

So I think. And then, like, the phase from there is then the weight loss

Speaker:

journey. And then it's like, wait, I no longer know how to dress for this

Speaker:

body now. Yeah. And so we're navigating different bodies and different

Speaker:

phases. And so you have to kind of, like, just, like,

Speaker:

navigate and kind of figure out what works for you, because maybe at this part

Speaker:

of your journey, you now feel more confident to show your arms. Or like, you

Speaker:

may feel more confident with pleats. And, like, so it's. I always

Speaker:

say, like, you still should. I think if you show up and

Speaker:

you get dressed up, you feel your best. So

Speaker:

even during all the phases, I think you have to show up.

Speaker:

Yeah. And I think when you're at the phase of, hey,

Speaker:

I'm losing the weight, don't splurge, but still

Speaker:

look good. And there's ways to do that. There's brands that are still really cool

Speaker:

and trendy, but not like. Not like a target, you know? But

Speaker:

you're still able to look good and feel good. Yeah, absolutely. So

Speaker:

we kind of see them during all the same phases. So tell me, what would

Speaker:

be some, like, kind of, like, basic foundational kind of

Speaker:

advice to somebody that, like, what are the staples that you

Speaker:

should have, like, in your wardrobe? I don't know, like, you should

Speaker:

use a belt or not, like, I don't know, like, what are some of the

Speaker:

things that you would suggest? I think, like, my top five things always

Speaker:

to have is like a little black dress. Okay. You need it for an interview,

Speaker:

you need it for a funeral. I hate to say, yeah,

Speaker:

it's your, like, everything dress. Then I think a blazer,

Speaker:

like a great blazer that you can throw on with, like, a white T shirt

Speaker:

or like, even a turtleneck. Like anything. Like a great

Speaker:

blazer. I think a trouser. And you. I think,

Speaker:

like, pleats sometimes don't work if you're plus size. But then.

Speaker:

So you could do more of a flat, I think that you could do.

Speaker:

Everyone should have a T shirt. White, black, like

Speaker:

your basics. Crew neck, no logos. I'm actually huge

Speaker:

on that for men, too. Yeah. I'm like, we're not doing V necks anymore, guys.

Speaker:

Those are out. Crewneck, basic white

Speaker:

V necks. Yeah. Oh, the V necks are done. You gotta let him know. No,

Speaker:

for me. Oh, for you. Crew neck. So I think just

Speaker:

having, like, the basics are kind of your foundation. And if you

Speaker:

don't have them, you have nothing. Yeah. And like, having just like a great belt.

Speaker:

Like, great. Even these, like, I've been wanting to get you just like a basic

Speaker:

belt. No logo, brown, black, tan. Like,

Speaker:

those are kind of your go to's. And then just like, creating those

Speaker:

kind of like just your. Your basics, like, as simple

Speaker:

as it is, like, that's what you need, and then you can have fun. Yeah.

Speaker:

So I always say, like, the blazer, a great pant, a great

Speaker:

jean, no rips. Cause you can wear them sometimes in the workplace. And they're not,

Speaker:

like, ripped up. Yeah. Rips are kind of out anyway. Oh, they are, yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah. I think I threw out some rips when I was in your closet. Oh,

Speaker:

well, I didn't even know. And Erin, you didn't notice. Cause then they're gone. Yeah.

Speaker:

So she did another closet audit and even more stuff when

Speaker:

there was a huge pile. And Aaron said, go through. And I said, you know

Speaker:

what? I wouldn't. I didn't even look. You Just donated it all.

Speaker:

I didn't even look. I trust you that much. I didn't even glance at it.

Speaker:

Okay. Because I didn't want to. Like, back to your point. Like, we do. It's

Speaker:

emotional and I think, like, even on the flip side, to bring it back almost

Speaker:

to our patient's journey. Yeah. There are, like, jeans that they wore

Speaker:

that, you know, were like, man, these are so tight. And they were like,

Speaker:

really high size. You don't feel good. Yeah. Don't even, like, focus

Speaker:

on those. Like, it's like, don't focus on the size. Like, every.

Speaker:

Every. Every brand and designer is

Speaker:

a different size. So, like, don't focus on the size because you may be

Speaker:

a two and one and a four in one and it's like, don't focus on

Speaker:

that. Yeah. So people do get hung up and they tie that number

Speaker:

to their, like, self worth. And, like, I know I'm not a four.

Speaker:

Gosh, no. I can't imagine. I know, right?

Speaker:

That's quite the comparison. I was like, geez. But, like, you're right. And

Speaker:

I think, like, even when you're getting started, it's. Yeah. You know,

Speaker:

that's what I love about it too. I have no idea what size this outfit

Speaker:

is that I'm wearing right now. Yeah, you don't have. You don't look. I don't

Speaker:

ever look. No, but you're also tall, so, like, that's the other thing. Like, yeah,

Speaker:

height matters. Like, everything is like, size is so.

Speaker:

Size is so weird. And even within a brand, I mean, you can try on

Speaker:

two pairs of pants from the same place in two different. You know, I have

Speaker:

a pair of jeans that's a. An 8, and I have a 12 in the

Speaker:

same brand. And the 10 that I have doesn't fit. I'm like,

Speaker:

make this all true every

Speaker:

season. I'm like, did they make their clothes smaller this season? Like, or like, I

Speaker:

love the places. That you do the vanity sizing. So you're like, yeah, I'm an

Speaker:

eight. And it's like, yeah, well, you're 12. Everywhere else, like the old New

Speaker:

Yorking company did that I would be like a zero. And I'm like, no, I'm

Speaker:

a 10. Like, I would always feel bad for the really tiny people. You're like,

Speaker:

what are they wearing? Wearing? No, there's not a small enough size. Or like, with

Speaker:

her, like, I have some pants because you're tall, which is amazing. And

Speaker:

like, I have pants that fit her. And then I'm like, how am I putting

Speaker:

this on Someone five, three, right? Yeah. Like the same pant. It's like,

Speaker:

crazy. They have to get so much tailoring, which. Tailoring is huge. I think

Speaker:

if you like. I always. People like, oh, I have to spend money on tailoring.

Speaker:

I'm like, think about celebrities. They don't really wear off the

Speaker:

rack. Like, they're getting everything tailored. So I always say, like,

Speaker:

tailoring is your best friend. Like, you like sleeves, like, get them shortened,

Speaker:

get your pants hemmed. Like, little things like that. It's. It's

Speaker:

can make or break your whole. Look and sometimes, too. And I think this is

Speaker:

a lot of our weight loss patients is they might have one area that remains

Speaker:

a. Little bit bigger, and you carry in. Your hips or your thighs, and that

Speaker:

weight is harder. So it's like, yeah, shop for your

Speaker:

biggest size. Taylor in.

Speaker:

We get these women with these tiny little waists. And I had a client this

Speaker:

morning. Yeah. The tiniest waist, and she's like, I'm Gap. I'm like, it's. We got

Speaker:

a tailor. The pants look amazing. Otherwise, they fit perfect. Yeah. And

Speaker:

I think tailoring is scary, that it's like. But I had a good friend that

Speaker:

did that, and she realized. She's like, oh, I love these jeans, but I have

Speaker:

to size up in them. Yeah. Because then they fit perfectly,

Speaker:

and then I just get the waist taken in. Yeah. I think investing and finding

Speaker:

a good tailor and, like, you can find one easily by just reading reviews. Like,

Speaker:

if you don't have a tailor in your area, just Google and you can read

Speaker:

reviews and, like, find a. Great tailor, even at, like, your. Your dry

Speaker:

cleaner. Yeah, I got my wedding dress tailored. A dry cleaner. That's

Speaker:

amazing. Hannah is a dirt.

Speaker:

I don't know. It was minimal.

Speaker:

I didn't need much done to it. That was a perfect find. Yeah. Her wedding

Speaker:

dress was perfect. But, yeah, Hannah's resourceful. Yeah,

Speaker:

but. Yeah, but, like, those are the kinds of things I. And I think sometimes

Speaker:

it does. It's sounds very much like almost maybe like you're thinking of, like, a

Speaker:

men's tailor, Right. Getting a suit built for them. Yeah. It's like the littlest thing.

Speaker:

No. You can go in and they'll. It can be very casual. It's low

Speaker:

key. It's not anything crazy. And. Yeah, go get your pants hemmed. Like. Yeah.

Speaker:

And a lot of women, like, when they try on, like, I'm just gonna show

Speaker:

on here, like this right here. It kind of like, if you have a

Speaker:

larger chest, will stay open. And I'm like, that is A five dollar

Speaker:

tailor. You just get a little hook in or a button and then. And you

Speaker:

can do it with things that are low cut as well. So it's like, know

Speaker:

your audience. If you' a meeting, maybe you clip it. If you're out to happy

Speaker:

hour, you can level. So I'm like,

Speaker:

that is the smallest. Like, See I never. And like, I've never thought of that.

Speaker:

And that's something that I do because. I like a button down. But it's hard

Speaker:

for me because almost everyone. Yeah, just like. And it fits

Speaker:

everywhere else. Yeah, Well, I mean, and I think to your point

Speaker:

about like different size breasts and this in. In different things.

Speaker:

So now a lot of our patients are going to see Dr. Tower with body

Speaker:

by beauty and they're getting their body contouring. So now their

Speaker:

bodies are like. I mean, they weep when they see how great

Speaker:

they look. And they don't have the skin. They have this flat abdomen and she

Speaker:

does 360 and lipo and she does the breast augmentations

Speaker:

and they don't even need to wear bras. We were just looking at someone

Speaker:

else's picture who's post surgery with Dr.

Speaker:

Tower. But so that's fun, I think.

Speaker:

I mean, your job would be like the most part the fun part of. That

Speaker:

entire journey because it's like a whole new person. They feel

Speaker:

so great and confident and you're like, I get to. I've had

Speaker:

people, like a lot of people think styling is like, oh, it's superficial or it's

Speaker:

just like. But I see people cry in the fitting room. Like, you guys get

Speaker:

to see that too. Like, you get to see. It's like, oh, I had, you

Speaker:

know, a surgery done and it changes their life. So.

Speaker:

And you see just like the confidence come back on their face. It's like a

Speaker:

beautiful thing. Yeah. And so now they have this whole new like body to shop

Speaker:

for and this whole like, it's so exciting. Oh yeah. And I think another

Speaker:

big part of that is that yes, they're like thrill with themselves. But

Speaker:

again, back to the like, what's the tag? They almost have

Speaker:

like a, A limitation to picking up the correct size.

Speaker:

Oh yeah. You need to be like, dude, that is way too big. Like we

Speaker:

just looked at a picture, the same picture. I was like, the dress is too

Speaker:

big. That dress looks like a bad. You don't really know how to, how to

Speaker:

shop for like new happens with like weight loss too. You

Speaker:

don't know how to shop for your new body type. And I think too, too

Speaker:

sometimes People get. So this journey can be really long as well.

Speaker:

And so then they also go back to the style that was in

Speaker:

when. They were smaller before. So maybe you were small in your. Twenties also with

Speaker:

pregnancy that happened. Oh, my God. Well, I was. We were talking earlier, and I

Speaker:

was telling her. I was like, I really have never truly developed a style as

Speaker:

an adult, even, I feel like. Because if I think back to it, I

Speaker:

was in school. Yeah. I started working, you know, in my career when I was,

Speaker:

like, 25. I worked for six years wearing scrubs to

Speaker:

work. Oh, yeah. And then I started with

Speaker:

in bariatrics, and I was virtual. Yeah. So

Speaker:

I'm like, I'm in the shirt. Yeah, whatever. I grabbed a couple shirts from

Speaker:

the mall, and then I'm in my, like, you know, sorry, everyone.

Speaker:

You're gonna find out. I'm in comfy shorts every day because I'm at home, and

Speaker:

I'm like. You can only see from here up, everyone. No one had pants on.

Speaker:

What do you mean? I do wear pants. I do wear pants. But

Speaker:

I'm in. I'm in, like, a legging. I'm in a comfy short. I'm in something

Speaker:

because I'm not. I'm not wearing trousers at home. It's just. It's like, God forbid

Speaker:

anyone had to stand up for an emergency. Everyone would have seen what was everything.

Speaker:

Yeah. But then I was. And then I. Like I was saying, then I started

Speaker:

with Body by Bariatrics, where, again, I'm still virtual for the most part.

Speaker:

But we do come in person and we do dress up. But then I got

Speaker:

pregnant, like, immediately. So then I was pregnant. Now I'm postpartum, and now I'm pregnant

Speaker:

again. I'm just like. It has just never caught up to me.

Speaker:

You know, I have. I know things that I like and I enjoy and whatever,

Speaker:

but I'm like, I never really developed. Yeah. You have to find your style. Style

Speaker:

that go crazy. Like, I might need to come in that closet. Oh, my God.

Speaker:

It's gonna be empty. Yeah. It's gonna be hanger again.

Speaker:

It's gonna be like a wedding dress tailored at the

Speaker:

dry cleaner. Yeah. That's actually in my husband's closet. I make him store that

Speaker:

because it's. Too big for mine. I love it. I think a lot of people,

Speaker:

like, we just go back to our comfy clothes in those moments, and then you

Speaker:

just see still, like, don't ever figure out your style. Yeah. You know,

Speaker:

it's overwhelming. Yeah, it's completely overwhelming because now,

Speaker:

too. Online shopping is a blessing and a curse.

Speaker:

Yeah, I know. It's very. I like to feel still. I like,

Speaker:

oh, you know, is your business gonna ever go away? I'm like, I don't know.

Speaker:

I personally think people still like to, like, touch things and, like, try it

Speaker:

on their body. Like, think about. I do a lot of virtual. I have, like,

Speaker:

most. Half of my clients are. I've never met, which is crazy. I have clients

Speaker:

all over the U.S. wow. And I would say I've never met 50 people

Speaker:

of my clients, which is insane. Like, I've been styling some of them for five

Speaker:

years, and I talk to them all the time, and we are like family

Speaker:

at this point. I get really close to my clients, you know, that's why I

Speaker:

like to take on, like, a smaller amount, because I become kind of very

Speaker:

close to you. It's very personal. Yeah. And I think that,

Speaker:

like, I don't even know where I was going with this. You better clip this.

Speaker:

I don't even know what I was. Saying, but, like, just developing that, like, style

Speaker:

and. Oh, the online. Yeah, yeah. No, the online.

Speaker:

Like, so I'm. I'm online searching for stuff for them. Never met

Speaker:

them. And, you know, I. The best clients that I work with virtually,

Speaker:

sometimes they have to order. I'm not even kidding you. Like 100

Speaker:

items. Yeah. So it's like, it's a big. It's a big investment out.

Speaker:

Right. Because you're. You're ordering 100 things and then half of them, it's going to

Speaker:

go back. Right. But I need you to try on that many things, because think

Speaker:

about it. If I was just sending you links, we. I mean, you

Speaker:

like it. You like it to put on. And I mean, I love my virtual

Speaker:

clients. Like, I've become. I love them. Yeah. And it's super fun, but

Speaker:

it's like that person has to be willing to invest because it's.

Speaker:

It's a lot up front. Yeah. And a lot of it does go back. I

Speaker:

think the mall is coming back. Yeah. I like it. I think people miss

Speaker:

the experience of a mall, and not only just the shopping aspect,

Speaker:

but, like, the experience of. Going to a mall, like,

Speaker:

walking away. I've been a mall rat since I was little, so I've never. What

Speaker:

we did when we were. Yeah, we loved it. That. That's our generation. That's true.

Speaker:

Yeah. Gosh. I was at. I don't even know what mine was. Carousel Center. It's

Speaker:

like Destiny USA in upstate New York. Wow. Well, I

Speaker:

mean, the other day, I Asked you, you're like, oh, this store has this, and

Speaker:

that store has that. And I said, do you know everything in the mall? You're

Speaker:

like, yes. Yeah. I also know everything online. Yeah. That's the

Speaker:

funniest thing. I'm. I wake up every morning and the first thing I do is

Speaker:

go on, like, my top websites. What's new? And then I.

Speaker:

My virtual clients. I send them, like, if I see something. Even if

Speaker:

you're not currently working with me, but you've been work. I've done this to you

Speaker:

before. Yeah. If you're not working with me currently, I'm still like, oh, this

Speaker:

would look great on Betsy. And I just send it over. And you're like, why

Speaker:

is Chrissy sending me at 8am I don't question. I immediately buy. Yeah. But I

Speaker:

do it to you. Yeah. So I do. I try to do that. So, like,

Speaker:

the first thing I do, like, because I have a lot of active clients, I'll

Speaker:

just, like, go on. It's how I start my morning, which I don't know if

Speaker:

it's a good or bad thing, but it's my favorite part of the morning. I'm

Speaker:

like, what's new today? Wow, that's impressive. Yeah. It's like you're like, on

Speaker:

your game. Yes. You are a professional too.

Speaker:

It's not just like you said, oh, you've been in retail. You have the expertise,

Speaker:

the experience. But you weren't just like, oh, I can style you. Like,

Speaker:

oh, yeah. Can you help me? It's like, no. Like, you, like, you

Speaker:

know, like facts. And it's like, yeah, you were like, well trained. Maybe by the

Speaker:

school of, like, just be on the streets of doing it. Yes. Well, when I.

Speaker:

When I was with you last week, there was like a, like a shirt that

Speaker:

was like, say, 400. And then I said, like, look, I found the dupe that

Speaker:

looks just like it for like, 65. And we got so excited. Oh, my God.

Speaker:

And I'm like, holding them up and they're like, so close. And that's. Those are

Speaker:

my favorite moments. Yeah. I love doing, like, styling on any budget.

Speaker:

Yeah. You know, it's like you got to mix high and low. Yeah, absolutely. And

Speaker:

I think, like, what you're talking about earlier of, like those staple pieces. Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Where you, like, you invest. Yeah. You put that in and then the fun. The

Speaker:

investment shoes. Yes, the investment shoes are coming back up again. We keep bringing.

Speaker:

So. The return is the same

Speaker:

brand as you see. But this is one of my favorite, like, Dolce Vita is

Speaker:

Good for, like, looks for less. Yeah. And I think, you know, you've got to

Speaker:

have both in your closet. Yeah. So. Especially if you're hard on your shoes.

Speaker:

I'm hard on shoes. Me too. I'm gonna ruin these before I get to the

Speaker:

car, but that's okay. Scuff them up. Yeah. I'm a bag girl. Like, that is

Speaker:

one thing. Like, you can never call me and be like, should I get a

Speaker:

handbag? Like, an investment? Because I'll be like, I. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I'm not

Speaker:

good. Like, I'm. I'm good at finding them for less. But, like, I'm like, oh,

Speaker:

yeah. Invest in the handbag. Yeah. Because it just, like. It's like, oh, look at

Speaker:

your outfit. You could be, like. You could literally be in your, like, pilates

Speaker:

look, and you could have a nice handbag, and you're like, you got it. It

Speaker:

pulls together. Just got lives on their website. Oh, yeah. They have some good.

Speaker:

They've stepped it up. Yeah. I don't even know what you guys are talking about.

Speaker:

They have some great. Yeah. I like the green they have right now.

Speaker:

Look at her. That's what I'm talking about. She is all of it. But also

Speaker:

to bring that around to, like, your look. And we are having

Speaker:

you at our Body by Transformation Butterfly

Speaker:

Effect retreat, which is happening May 1st and 2nd in Orlando.

Speaker:

And I really wanted. So this. The whole vision for that

Speaker:

is about, like, wealth, and it's about, like, not just

Speaker:

succeeding with the surgery, but also, like,

Speaker:

finding your success in all walks of life. And I do feel like you are

Speaker:

a. Like, a instrumental, pivotal part of this whole thing is to

Speaker:

talk about style. Yeah. So, like, what would you, like,

Speaker:

why do you feel like that is just so important that you be at this,

Speaker:

like, personal development type of a conference? I think that you.

Speaker:

Your look, a lot of people, like, what is the saying?

Speaker:

Like, the first impression is everything. Like, it's true.

Speaker:

If you show up put together, and you show up, it gives

Speaker:

you so, like, a level of confidence in yourself, and it changes the

Speaker:

whole game. And I think it's all about confidence.

Speaker:

So I think you. How your appearance is, is everything.

Speaker:

If you. Like, when you are walking around out of here,

Speaker:

if you were just in your workout clothes all day and, like, you met a

Speaker:

potential client, I feel like if you were wearing this over that, like, it would

Speaker:

change the whole. Do you know what I mean? Like, I remember

Speaker:

one day I was running so late doing, like, mom life, and I was just

Speaker:

like, mom work, like, business, like, and I did not. I

Speaker:

said, oh, I'm gonna have time to go home before I get my hair done.

Speaker:

And I go to, like, you know, the best or salon in Orlando, and it's

Speaker:

like, who's who? The mayor's next to you, and this person's next to you. And

Speaker:

I'm like, I'm gonna have time to go home and change wearing, like.

Speaker:

Like, the messiest. It wasn't even a cute workout outfit.

Speaker:

And so, of course, I ran out of time. And I show up, and

Speaker:

I'm mortified. I'm a stylist in this town. I'm like.

Speaker:

Like, I can't. What am I wearing? And I remember leaving there

Speaker:

so upset with myself, and I was telling my friend, and she goes,

Speaker:

you are your brand. Like, she gave me tough love. Oh, wow. She was like,

Speaker:

you are your brand. Why would you even. Like, you should have never left the

Speaker:

house in the first place like that. And she's an entrepreneur. And I was

Speaker:

like, wow. And that's. You guys. Like, you're your brand.

Speaker:

So I think you just, like, it represents who you are. And,

Speaker:

like, if you. You know, I was gonna use an

Speaker:

analogy. Like, I probably wouldn't hire. This is so mean. You might want to cut

Speaker:

this. I would not want, like, a

Speaker:

doctor who was driving like a hooptie. I'd be like,

Speaker:

what happened? Like, I might. I remember my ex. My ex was,

Speaker:

like, an orthodontist, and he was like, oh, I don't want to drive, like, a

Speaker:

super nice car because of patients. And I was like, I feel the opposite.

Speaker:

Yeah. If I pull up and you're, like, driving like a beater,

Speaker:

I'm gonna be like, what went wrong? What went wrong? Yeah. No, I think it's

Speaker:

so true. Like, when I was in Baltimore, I would roll up there every day

Speaker:

for surgeries. Like, my winter coat, and I'd literally have, like,

Speaker:

my workout clothes on. No makeup. I'd have, like, the hood up with the fur,

Speaker:

and I look like a wreck. And I remember one of the anesthesiologists is like,

Speaker:

dovek. Always just bebops in here. Like, with her. Like, she just rolled out

Speaker:

of bed. And I remember that was, like, a turning point. I was like, I.

Speaker:

I really need to. Like, that's. That is

Speaker:

the perspective. And I felt like when I came to Florida, I'm like, I.

Speaker:

It's a fresh slate. It's a first impression, right? Like, there's a lot of people

Speaker:

who have eyes on me, like, this new girl, like, what's happening?

Speaker:

And I. I Do not go to the hospital ever. I don't walk around in

Speaker:

scrubs outside of the hospital anymore. It's kind of like the Mayo Clinic.

Speaker:

They have that thing. You're not allowed to leave the OR in

Speaker:

scrubs. You have to have your white coat on. You have to. This is. This

Speaker:

is the Persona. This is what we want. And if you can't do it, then

Speaker:

you. We. We cut you. You're gone. So I wasn't at Mayo, but it's just

Speaker:

like, you know, that's just the. The idea. It doesn't have to even be, like,

Speaker:

high end. It could literally just be put together. Yeah. Like, it

Speaker:

doesn't need to be all designer. It's just like, put yourself together,

Speaker:

like, show up. And I think that's like the.

Speaker:

The key, like, it's so important so, you know, it's. It's your image, it's your

Speaker:

brand. Yeah. Something we were talking about earlier was also

Speaker:

just talking about, like, styling, like, for your lifestyle, too. Oh, yes.

Speaker:

Because like, you said, like, people, you can go in somebody's closet and they have

Speaker:

all these clothes, but it's like, you know, fancy dresses.

Speaker:

It's like, what, are you going to a gala every night? Yeah. The first thing

Speaker:

you ask. Yeah, like, the first thing I ask someone styling is like, what is

Speaker:

your lifestyle? Like, because if I just started styling you and,

Speaker:

like, didn't ask those questions, you, like, why? Like, someone like

Speaker:

you, you're going to the office, you're meeting with patients, and

Speaker:

you need, like, a little bit of an elevated look. But someone who's like,

Speaker:

I'm just like, I don't know. Someone who's like, home all day, going to the

Speaker:

park, for example. That's not you, by the way. It is. No, but it is,

Speaker:

like, truly, like, I still work. I'm working from home, and I'm, you know, it

Speaker:

is. Right. It's truly that lifestyle. Like, I wouldn't want to give you story time.

Speaker:

Yeah. You know, it's like, what are you doing on the weekends? What are you

Speaker:

doing day to day? I'm not wearing this to story time. Yeah. You're not wearing

Speaker:

this to the park. I'm not wearing this. You're not wearing that to the park

Speaker:

either. Yeah, yeah. But it. I think knowing someone's lifestyle,

Speaker:

like, what are you doing? I call it, like, your Publix dress. Like, I will

Speaker:

give you, like, a dress to wear to Publix. I feel like you feel so

Speaker:

pretty at Publix when you wear a dress. I don't know what it is. Wearing

Speaker:

a dress is actually the cheat code to life. It is because you don't think

Speaker:

about it. You pick one piece of clothing. That's my address is my. You don't

Speaker:

have to match a shirt and a. On a bottom. You know, number one request

Speaker:

from all of my clients, literally male, female,

Speaker:

in person, virtual tops. Tops are so hard to

Speaker:

find. And you know what? Quality. And this is across the board. Yeah. Quality is

Speaker:

terrible nowadays. Oh, yeah, I agree. That's the other thing. Going back to the online

Speaker:

versus in person. And everything's cropped. You or everything is cropped. Everything's

Speaker:

cropped. I just wear. I mean, I would wear cropped. Yeah.

Speaker:

Instagram is a lot of crops. Like, at a certain point, I would like a

Speaker:

full length shirt. Yeah. No, that's what I mean, though. Like, when you're literally

Speaker:

on the ground with your kids, like, you don't need. Or like cheek

Speaker:

out with. Yeah. Like, the shorts are getting shorter. I'm like, yeah. But then

Speaker:

they also. Then they went through a phase of longer. Yeah. Which I was. And

Speaker:

like, again, by the way, while we're on this topic, like, trends are not for

Speaker:

everyone. That is one of my things. I'm like, you can sit

Speaker:

trends out. Yeah. Because they are not for everyone. Like, there's just

Speaker:

certain trends that I'm like, we can't all. We don't have the body type. Like,

Speaker:

we don't. It's not for us. Well, and also, like, like the bow. Trend, I

Speaker:

was like, know your age. We're not. Yeah. Like, I'm not five. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker:

Not 25. Like, I don't necessarily need to be totally.

Speaker:

I. I would rather be classic. And classic is

Speaker:

the best. Yeah. The company. What is classic? What is classic? What

Speaker:

I'm wearing. Yeah. Like, you kind of like never goes out of style. Like a

Speaker:

cardigan. We did some cardigans. We were like a trouser. A really chic,

Speaker:

like, you know, long denim. That's not like, you know, low

Speaker:

rise. Yeah. Classic. Like a loafer.

Speaker:

So what is the trend right now for jeans? Because you put me in different

Speaker:

jeans. You took me back to the 90s. No, no. Like, honestly, across

Speaker:

the board right now, other than rips, jeans are everywhere. There's low, there's high,

Speaker:

there's mid. Like, there's jeans are not. And like, you know, we've

Speaker:

talked about like skinny. Oh, skinny's out. But I'm like, skinny's never going out. If

Speaker:

you wear a high boot because you need it. You have to. So I'm Like,

Speaker:

I'm like, don't get rid of your. Yeah, me too. It's sexy with like a

Speaker:

belt and like a tucked in. Like, don't get to wear it down here that

Speaker:

much. No, I rocked it a lot. I wear boots and sweaters everywhere year round

Speaker:

here. I look like a crazy person. But you know, it's cold

Speaker:

everywhere inside. Inside it is. Yeah. So you can get away with it

Speaker:

here. But yeah, I think trends, like, that's one thing that's huge for

Speaker:

everyone to know. Well, and the trends now, like they call them like the micro

Speaker:

trends. Yeah. And I'm like, they last for two weeks. Yeah. And that's

Speaker:

another thing. Those are the Zara. That's the. If you want to do a trend

Speaker:

and you don't want to sit it out, like, go to Zara because like, if

Speaker:

it's like fast fashion and you're paying 40, $50, like, okay, it's

Speaker:

fine. But like, you're not gonna spend 500 on a trendy

Speaker:

coat. Right? So, so, and what about. Exactly.

Speaker:

And so what are like. So we talked about belts, but like, what are

Speaker:

accessories? Because that's easy for our patients. You are seeing saying this earlier.

Speaker:

Honestly, a belt can change your whole outfit. Like, it just like sets the tone

Speaker:

and kind of like separates. So I always say have like a great, great

Speaker:

staple belts and you don't have to do like logos. I feel like those kind

Speaker:

of come and go too. Don't throw those out because they always come back. Like,

Speaker:

I just saw the Gucci belt is coming back. I think you might have that

Speaker:

one. It just came back, by the way. Oh, good. Thank you. Even. Yeah,

Speaker:

it's back again. She wore it the whole time. It didn't. I think about like,

Speaker:

oh, and jewelry is one thing. Like, clients are always like, what do I do

Speaker:

with jewelry? And they panic. And my whole thing with jewelry is like,

Speaker:

just like, first of all, I like it you to be able to see it.

Speaker:

I find that if you get like the pegs from Amazon that you can hang

Speaker:

your necklaces on, like, if a lot of people would. Like a lot of my

Speaker:

clients have these beautiful like drawers in their closet with their jewelry.

Speaker:

I think you have that actually you can't see it.

Speaker:

Exactly. So I always say, like, if you can display it where

Speaker:

you can see it and just like, don't overthink it, throw it on.

Speaker:

Kind of like just have fun with it. You can always take it off. And

Speaker:

because people overthink jewelry, I overthink jewelry. Like, me too. I never wear

Speaker:

it so I'm don't overthink it. Just like throw it on, mix it up, have

Speaker:

fun with it. Yeah, yeah. And like you can find brands that are

Speaker:

like, you know, in like the 50 to 100 range where you can have

Speaker:

like fun with it and you're not just doing high end. Well, that's my problem

Speaker:

is then my, my sister started getting into jewelry and so she was just sending

Speaker:

everything was like all high end jewelry, like all this. And then I became

Speaker:

snobby about it. Like you only buy 15 karat gold

Speaker:

full, not filled, you know, nothing. I know. No. Did I

Speaker:

buy anything? No, because then I was like, oh, I'm not gonna, you know. Yeah,

Speaker:

I don't like it. $3,000 worth, you know, whatever. And it's like, Hannah, just

Speaker:

buy some stuff like. But it doesn't have to. You're not that special, my love.

Speaker:

Yeah, totally. Yeah. I think just like for me, you know, you have your

Speaker:

classic pieces, maybe your watch, your you know, your diamond earrings,

Speaker:

a few bracelets. And then you from there have your stuff. I have

Speaker:

like my grandmother's jewelry and my mom's for my mom and things like that. This

Speaker:

necklace that was like a gift for my sister for with my daughter. Stuff

Speaker:

like that, which even this. I mean I know she, who knows where she got

Speaker:

it but like. Yeah, but still. But it's, you know, it's nicer, it's a

Speaker:

nicer stuff. But I'm like, yeah, mix it it with. Yeah, I love mixing. Everyone

Speaker:

has like their jewelry that they don't really take off and then have fun and

Speaker:

mix with it and like mix metals. I'm like, we can wear gold and silver

Speaker:

now. The hardest time with that. I love a mixed metal. Cuz I switched to

Speaker:

from silver to gold when I got married basically.

Speaker:

Yeah, my rings are. And I love it. But I have all this old get.

Speaker:

Up silver get after it. There's no rule. I know. It's the rules

Speaker:

are I also really. Have to shine all of my silver. That's the problem.

Speaker:

So I think just like having fun and like people get so hung up

Speaker:

on like I'm like, just try it on. Like, you know, a lot of people

Speaker:

are doing these color things now and I'm like, I'm not gonna tell you you

Speaker:

don't look good in a color because you may look good in a different shade

Speaker:

of that color. And I think people are a lot of some stylists are doing

Speaker:

that now. And I'm like, that's just not my thing. Like I'M not gonna tell

Speaker:

you never to wear yellow. Like, we're gonna try. I was about to say, I

Speaker:

literally will not pick up anything yellow. I won't touch. And you know what? And

Speaker:

that point is, like, at our age, you already know what

Speaker:

color doesn't look good on you. Like, you know. Right. And

Speaker:

so I'm like, just. I don't think, you know, I see a lot of people

Speaker:

online like, oh, we did this color thing. And, like, the tones. And I'm like,

Speaker:

come on, now we're just overdoing it. Yeah. Like, I'm not gonna charge someone for

Speaker:

that. Like, I'm gonna try things on you. I think the best way is,

Speaker:

like, just go and try it on. Like, get into it. Like,

Speaker:

if you. If you want to know what works for your body type, put it

Speaker:

on. Yeah. You won't know. Like, And I. And a lot of people say, like,

Speaker:

that doesn't work for me. And I'm like, let's try it again. Yeah. Because maybe

Speaker:

it is throwing a belt on or maybe. Maybe it does work, but you have

Speaker:

to put, like, a dress that's, like, maybe oversized. We throw a belt and

Speaker:

then it changes the game. So I think people just get so

Speaker:

hung up on, like, is this right for my body stuff? I'm like, just don't

Speaker:

overthink it. Have fun with it. The thing that drives me crazy, I'll see people

Speaker:

do this on, like, on. On Tick tock or whatever as they go. And they'll.

Speaker:

They're trying on dresses for a wedding, you know, whatever. The classic dilemma.

Speaker:

What do I wear to this wedding? And they leave their freaking white socks on.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah. Dressing room. Oh, God. And I'm like, no wonder it looks. Terrible because

Speaker:

you're wearing a white ankle sock. Yeah. And it's like, you know,

Speaker:

aritzia dress or whatever. And I'm like, take your stupid socks.

Speaker:

Yeah. She makes me have shoes that match that

Speaker:

outfit in there. And even, like, if you're going to try stuff on like that,

Speaker:

like, bring a pair of tan heels. Yeah. Heels go with

Speaker:

everything. Yeah. You don't have to walk around the mall in them. But bring, literally

Speaker:

investment. But, like, bring your tan heels. Yeah. And then you can change them

Speaker:

out whenever you pick an outfit. But yeah. Because imagine you're trying on an outfit

Speaker:

with flats. Like, nothing ever looks. Nothing ever looks. No, no. Unless it's like, an

Speaker:

outfit that you're like, oh, I'm gonna wear this with sneakers or like a ballet.

Speaker:

You're looking for casual clothes, something. But it's Like. But, like, putting on a heel

Speaker:

is a game changer. Yeah. So I think a lot of

Speaker:

times, too, like, people over, Like, I do a lot of travel packing, and people

Speaker:

over pack for vacation. Everyone does it. They're like, what do

Speaker:

I do? And so, like, one of my hacks for that is I. You

Speaker:

should fully try on your outfits. I don't even know if you do this. We've

Speaker:

never really talked about your travel packing, but I

Speaker:

literally will make the client fully try on the look with

Speaker:

the bag and the shoes. And then we actually take a photo, and sometimes I'll

Speaker:

just lay it on their floor. Okay. And I put out the full look. And

Speaker:

then you have an album with all your looks for your

Speaker:

trip, so. Yeah, that too. But, like, my clients love digital,

Speaker:

so, like, I just take it. And I have. I have mostly group albums with

Speaker:

a lot of my clients, and we'll just be like, okay, outfit for,

Speaker:

like, Napa wine tasting. Yeah. And then

Speaker:

you literally can constantly go to this album and find things.

Speaker:

But, like, putting that even for, like, if you don't have a stylist and you

Speaker:

just want to do this for yourself, like, lay it out on your floor, put

Speaker:

your bag, your shoes, and your look, you will pack so much less if

Speaker:

you actually plan it out. Yeah. Wow. Plus, then you can probably. It's like, okay,

Speaker:

well, I'm taking these jeans. Yeah. What tops can I put? Right? And you

Speaker:

actually, like, think about it. If you don't do that, you just throwing it in

Speaker:

the bag. Right, Right. I always get out a rolling rack the week or two

Speaker:

before a trip. And you start. If you're in your closet and you're like, oh,

Speaker:

I'm gonna bring that to, I don't know, Bahamas. Put it on the

Speaker:

rack. And then by the time the trip comes, right before you have to

Speaker:

pack, you, most of your stuff is already hanging there. So you don't have to

Speaker:

freak out at night over it. Like the night before.

Speaker:

Exactly. 40 pairs of underwear. And then you're in such a. You're in a great.

Speaker:

I'm dying. I don't wear underwear, but.

Speaker:

Okay. Give you the cookie. Sorry.

Speaker:

So if you could, would you have Cher's closet from Clueless?

Speaker:

Oh, my God. With the little. Are you kidding me? It's like, every girl's

Speaker:

dream. Yeah. Of course. That movie is probably why I'm a stylist.

Speaker:

That was a turning point for you. Happened at a young age. Calvin Klein. Oh,

Speaker:

my God. Like, every moment in that. I'm obsessed. I. I was, like,

Speaker:

doing that and like playing mall madness. Like, I was. I.

Speaker:

Yeah, I've been. I've been like, literally a fashion

Speaker:

girly my whole life. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. I went to college for like, retail

Speaker:

and art and I'm like, it kind of blends. I don't know. Yeah, definitely. Yeah.

Speaker:

So. Oh, my gosh. Fashion and art is like a whole. I remember my

Speaker:

parents being like, what are you gonna do with that? Like, why do we send

Speaker:

you to a private university for this? And I'm like, oh, I'll figure it out.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh. Yeah, it's. It's really interesting. Honestly, like,

Speaker:

if you go back and you even look at the historical impact of like, why

Speaker:

women don't have pockets on their clothes. Yeah. Like, why do our pockets suck?

Speaker:

And it's because we didn't have pockets. And then it became. Became the purse and

Speaker:

men got pockets, but we didn't. And then it's turned crazy.

Speaker:

And we're grateful for. Yes, we are. We are. But like,

Speaker:

it's a. It's like there's so much that. Yes. So much impact.

Speaker:

Yeah. Betsy Johnson went to my college. Really? Yeah, she went to

Speaker:

Syracuse, if you're wondering. Yeah, that is. That is really

Speaker:

cool. Still do like a fashion show. I don't know now, but when I was

Speaker:

there every year and it was really cool, like, I had like a bird in

Speaker:

my hair. I was like, the things you do. Yeah, well, yeah, it's

Speaker:

a fake bird. Let's just put it out there. But. But you're very well known

Speaker:

in Orlando and you have famous clients and you have

Speaker:

even like NBA players and. Yeah, a lot of my clients,

Speaker:

I've, are like super private, which is cool for me. It's like, it sucks because

Speaker:

I can't. I can't share my work a lot, which makes me so sad. Like,

Speaker:

I'm in some really cool closets and I'm like, I can't even, like, share this

Speaker:

moment. But. But it's so fun. And. And like my.

Speaker:

The way I started my company was kind of out of a breakup, which is

Speaker:

crazy. Like, I was in a six year relationship and I had kind of like,

Speaker:

put my career on hold for him. I don't even know if you know this.

Speaker:

No, I don't. And so I had sort of, in the end, right before the

Speaker:

breakup, like, I think the universe like, knows in a weird way. I started

Speaker:

working on my business. I was. I had helped him with three practices.

Speaker:

He was an orthodontist. I had helped kind of build his businesses and I was

Speaker:

like, I am. It's time to go back to me. And so I sort

Speaker:

of started working on my business on the side, and then I launched it,

Speaker:

and then we literally broke up. Yeah. Like, I was blindsided with

Speaker:

a letter after six years. Oh, my gosh. I didn't know that. So it kind

Speaker:

of came from, like, I mean, listen, I had already launched it, but, like, the

Speaker:

real hard work started after that because I was like,

Speaker:

I am gonna, like, I'm gonna go there. Like, pour yourself into

Speaker:

everything. Into my business and, like, my brand. And so that

Speaker:

was like 20, 21. Around. Okay. So. Which

Speaker:

is like, around the time that we met. Yeah. And, you know, I'm super private

Speaker:

with my clients at first. Like, I'm not like, oh, I just got a breakup.

Speaker:

But, like, eventually we got there. But I think in that

Speaker:

moment is when I was like, for the first time in my adult life, I

Speaker:

was like, I am going to do me. Like, it's not about a man. It's

Speaker:

not about their career. I'm going to focus on my business. And

Speaker:

it just, like, took off. Like, I put everything into it. And I

Speaker:

feel like every day I wake up and I feel like you guys feel like

Speaker:

this too. And I feel like I am blessed to do what I love. And

Speaker:

every, like, as cheesy as it sounds, like I'm living my

Speaker:

dream. Yeah. And I. It's crazy to be like

Speaker:

that. Like, where it kind of how I got here. Gosh, I hope you don't

Speaker:

get too big for me. Oh, come on. Never. Oh, my gosh.

Speaker:

But I am infinitely proud of you. And I'm proud of you. I walked

Speaker:

in here and I was like, wow. Oh, I love it. Because we both been

Speaker:

with each other through the whole journey. The whole journey. Saw this whole. Yeah.

Speaker:

You saw me and I saw you. Yeah. And you know what? We were looking

Speaker:

good during the messy middle of it all. And I think, like, you said, a

Speaker:

slob kebab. I never heard of that before. I love it. But you're right.

Speaker:

It's like, even during COVID like, everyone's like, I'll tell you a

Speaker:

fun tip. Try your jeans on when you're sitting on the couch. And then

Speaker:

it's like, oh, my God, no one. It's like. But it is the truth.

Speaker:

Like, even when it is dark and lonely and you're like, what am I doing?

Speaker:

You still look good. And then that does help you to put one foot in

Speaker:

front the other. By the way, fake it till you make it. Yes. Cuz like,

Speaker:

the beginning, like for any girls listening, like with your

Speaker:

career and just get it, like get after it. Like you don't

Speaker:

necessarily know. And you learn so much along the way. Like

Speaker:

how much do you learn still? Every day. Oh my gosh. Every day. Right.

Speaker:

You learn something. What would you say is like one of the craziest things that

Speaker:

you've learned on your journey to, to, to be this successful? Oh

Speaker:

gosh. You never stop working when you work

Speaker:

for yourself. Like people think, oh, I want to like own a business.

Speaker:

And I'm like, there's no 9 to 5, there's no sick days.

Speaker:

You have to show up. Yeah. And like you put a lot. You have to

Speaker:

put your ego aside. Like, you know, even if you work for yourself,

Speaker:

you still work for your clients, you still work for your patients.

Speaker:

And I think that's huge. Like you never, you do work for

Speaker:

yourself, you're an entrepreneur, but you always have some kind of a person

Speaker:

to answer to. Yeah. And I think just, you know,

Speaker:

every day. I mean I, my, my night does not stop at

Speaker:

5 ever. I know you're, I know you guys too. No, it doesn't.

Speaker:

And I don't even really believe in work life balance. I don't either.

Speaker:

Say, what's that? What's that? No, it's just, I just, just go. And,

Speaker:

and but at the same time like as you can see, she, her excitement

Speaker:

is palpable. She's like such a fun person. So like it all,

Speaker:

she's living a good life because she has a great attitude. And I think too,

Speaker:

if you're living your dream, you just like, you have to constantly, even on the

Speaker:

bad days or the days that it's, it's hard because you're going to have those.

Speaker:

I mean it's crazy to be like, oh, I'm living my dream. Nothing bad ever

Speaker:

happens. I have like, you know, we have to put out fires. But I think

Speaker:

if you constantly like remind yourself always

Speaker:

that you're doing what you want, like you're living your life

Speaker:

dream, you're that then just keep reminding yourself of that. Yeah. You

Speaker:

know, without a doubt. Without a doubt. And I can't wait for you to be

Speaker:

at this retreat. She's such a cool addition.

Speaker:

Like, we're gonna need like mini styles style. I know we can do like a

Speaker:

mini style lab. I'm. We're gonna get like that little pop up change thing,

Speaker:

mini star lab. Let's do that. Yeah, let's bring this stuff out on stage. I

Speaker:

can like do a whole thing about it talking about it. Oh, my God.

Speaker:

Showing like, I love actually, I love showing how to do a

Speaker:

capsule wardrobe because I think just people. It

Speaker:

sounds so boring. But you can see in person how to mix and

Speaker:

match things. And I think that's really fun. Like I say, like Chrissy's

Speaker:

like staples. I can't wait to see.

Speaker:

Well, and then we from Body by Bariatrics,

Speaker:

we are actually going to. I didn't even tell you this yet. I love some

Speaker:

breaking. Here we go. So at

Speaker:

that retreat, you have to be present. We are going to give away.

Speaker:

We're going to pay for them to have a styling session with you and we're

Speaker:

going to pay for someone to have a few new outfits. Okay,

Speaker:

I love that. And we are going to just

Speaker:

capture the whole thing and you're going to give them like some one on one,

Speaker:

like tips and all of that kind of stuff that we're going to cover and

Speaker:

pay for. Love it. So that's one big price. But anybody can actually come to

Speaker:

you at any time. You don't have to wait to see if you win. Absolutely.

Speaker:

Yeah. And yeah, I've always thought you and I have like, our business

Speaker:

goes so hand in hand because without a doubt, because like you're.

Speaker:

We're seeing them through similar phases, right? You see them in the beginning and then

Speaker:

you see the after. And like, you just want to feel your best during all

Speaker:

the phases. And I think it's so important. Like, I'm sure I hear this a

Speaker:

lot, like, hey, I don't want to buy right now because I'm not where I

Speaker:

want to be. But I'm like, you also don't want to feel bad during that

Speaker:

because think about it. Maybe you're already feeling bad about yourself and then you've seen

Speaker:

don't feel any better. So it's like,

Speaker:

don't wait. I mean, you don't have to spend a lot, but you can at

Speaker:

least do a lick a little bit to make yourself feel better during the phase

Speaker:

when you don't feel your best. Yeah. You know, this soundbite I've talked about

Speaker:

many, many times, even on our first episode of the Weight Loss Collab back in

Speaker:

the day is that someone said, and I will never forget this,

Speaker:

and it haunts me. And I remember it like took my breath away that they

Speaker:

felt like they were the largest person in the room, but they were invisible

Speaker:

and they were dressing in a way that was like

Speaker:

a black oversized T shirt with a black pant. They just wanted to

Speaker:

disappear. Yeah, I believe it. That is such a visual. And it's

Speaker:

just so, so sad to me to think about someone saying

Speaker:

that and feeling that in our patients, that that sound bite will resonate with many,

Speaker:

many people. They still want to remain that way. So I think that your

Speaker:

services and us talking about it and us trying to help people to, again,

Speaker:

visualize and imagine and honestly just live their best life.

Speaker:

You are beautiful at any body. And, like, something that we

Speaker:

had talked about briefly earlier is, like, you know

Speaker:

what I see? Because I'll have someone come in a fitting room, and they'll say

Speaker:

to me, I hate my arms, or I hate my

Speaker:

stomach. And I'm looking at them, and I don't see that.

Speaker:

And I see, you know, with things with me that maybe I don't like. And

Speaker:

I. And no one. And it's like, no one else is. Sees that we're our.

Speaker:

We're hardest on ourselves. And I'm like, you. I'm thinking, you look

Speaker:

beautiful. I don't see that. Your arms. Whatever

Speaker:

you're looking at. And so I think we all have to remind ourselves,

Speaker:

like, no one else sees that. We're seeing you for, like, your beauty in other

Speaker:

ways. You know, no one's focused on that.

Speaker:

So I think that's really important for everyone to. It's like a mini therapy

Speaker:

session that they have with you. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I love. I.

Speaker:

I do, because I like. I love all of. I love all my clients. We.

Speaker:

Everyone's different. Like, I see a lot of bodies. Yeah, you do see

Speaker:

everyone. Like, you know, the first outfit I. Put on, I'm in, like, the.

Speaker:

The changing room and stuff. And then I. Literally, the whole time, we're just having

Speaker:

conversation, I'm wearing just a thong and a bra or if even. That. I don't

Speaker:

even notice it. Yeah, I don't. I don't either. And that's what I mean. Like,

Speaker:

I don't even. I'm like. They're like, is it okay? I'm like, I don't. Like,

Speaker:

I'm not even paying attention to you. I'm just literally thinking about what I'm doing

Speaker:

next. I'm, like, thinking of what's next. You're just, like, walking around the store,

Speaker:

like, I don't even care. I remember I had, like, one of my clients

Speaker:

is a. Is a gynecologist, and she said to me. She's like, is it okay?

Speaker:

I'm like, I probably seen, like, as many vaginas as you. Not really. But,

Speaker:

like, I'm seeing people naked all day, too, and it doesn't faze

Speaker:

me. Just like it doesn't faze them. Yeah, it's, it's just, it's normal. It's

Speaker:

medicine. It's, it's, it's style. It's. Yeah, it's very personal, you

Speaker:

know. And back to the mall thing about where you do it.

Speaker:

So you guys, this. Oh, this suite that you're in is gorgeous.

Speaker:

Oh my God, it's beautiful. You'll think that you're like the way that like

Speaker:

Kim K shops all the time. But guess what? You get it. You get it.

Speaker:

She. She takes you right in there and you, if you work with Chrissy, she'll

Speaker:

take you into this like this suite with like water

Speaker:

and like all the art and. Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker:

We have espresso. Multiple rooms. Yeah. It's just you in there. So you're like just

Speaker:

walking around the thing. Yeah, it's very private. I always, I was telling my mom

Speaker:

this recently. I was like, you know what? I just wish that you could just

Speaker:

go into stores and just get into your underwear so you could just try stuff

Speaker:

on right there. I know, I hate fitting rooms,

Speaker:

but not everyone's like free as us. I don't want to gather things

Speaker:

and carry them out. I love it. Oh, I would do that. I'm just like,

Speaker:

can we just have a girls only shop? Well, I think you know what it

Speaker:

is. I think it's because like, at some point you don't think of it as

Speaker:

like, I'm not like, it's like I don't care to see. I fear naked. I

Speaker:

don't even, I'm not even paying attention to you. Yeah. I'm not looking at this

Speaker:

woman over here who's. Yeah, no one. Yeah. But yeah, my mom was like, that's

Speaker:

how filing's basement used to be. Oh my God. Filing space. I haven't heard that

Speaker:

in a long time. I was like, we've lost so many stores. Like Barney's in

Speaker:

New York. Rip. Oh, RIP Barney. Yeah. What's your favorite

Speaker:

store? Are you allowed to say? Yeah, I mean, online is revolve. I do

Speaker:

a lot with them and I just, I love it. It's a two day shipping,

Speaker:

free reach. Like a lot of brands. They have a lot of brands. Like, they

Speaker:

have everything you can do. Like high, low, like it's a

Speaker:

big. And they have a partner forward, which is a little higher. And so

Speaker:

I like it. If I have an online client, we can get something very quick,

Speaker:

like two day shipping. I love the free returns. And then

Speaker:

in the mall, I'm a huge Aritzia girl. And I love Bloomingdale's.

Speaker:

I. Aritzia is like my go to, like, these pants. Aritzia tops revolve.

Speaker:

I love, like, Aritzia, to me, has all of your basics

Speaker:

you need. Oh, yeah. It's so good and classic. You can

Speaker:

get a cashmere sweater, you can get a trouser, you can get a great T

Speaker:

shirt, you can get great work pieces. And then Bloomingdale's is

Speaker:

like your fun, like, that's like your fun pieces. You know, where you

Speaker:

can, like, I think you know, something like this. That's not where I would have

Speaker:

thought. Where would you think? I don't know, Like, I guess, because I also, like,

Speaker:

just. I don't shop, like, in that kind of department store

Speaker:

either. So I don't know. I don't think of a department store as being fun,

Speaker:

I guess. And I'm like. And I love, like, I love

Speaker:

a Zara, but I feel like Zara is hard for body types.

Speaker:

It's really hard. I struggle, like, even with my clients.

Speaker:

I'm like, this could be. This is really hit or miss where I can go

Speaker:

in Aritzia and I can fully style you. And I'm not even going to, like,

Speaker:

you're going to walk out with 10 things minimum. Oh, yeah, yeah. But

Speaker:

like, Azara, we might. I never even heard of that. Oh, yeah, I know. I

Speaker:

got her in there. Which is

Speaker:

actually an anticoagulant that's used to prevent a deep venous thrombosis.

Speaker:

This is why we love her. Yeah. I was like, is this a Rick Straw?

Speaker:

Yeah, this is sexy. Yeah, I love it. Love

Speaker:

nerds. I'm such a nerd. Oh, I love it. I'm such a nerd. Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

That's hot. Well, so how do people work with you? Yes. If they want to

Speaker:

get in, what's the best way to contact you? Instagram. Chrissy Godwin.

Speaker:

Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You

Speaker:

respond to your DMs. Yeah, I do. I respond. Okay, that's you.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think, like, that's the best way. And then, you know, I work with

Speaker:

clients all over the US I've actually had one in Canada and one in

Speaker:

London. So I'm like, I'm. International claim to

Speaker:

fame. I love them. Yeah. So I like every state. And

Speaker:

then in. In Orlando, you know, we have them all. So. Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah. So amazing. Slide in the DMs close to

Speaker:

the DMS and the next thing appropriate. Yeah. I'll be sliding in for

Speaker:

anything. I might not respond. Our One male

Speaker:

listener. I know. Hey, is it

Speaker:

Aaron? Yeah. No, he doesn't even listen. Oh, that's the worst.

Speaker:

We should talk some. You need to tell him for sure.

Speaker:

So. At Chrissy Godwin on Instagram. That's awesome. Thank you

Speaker:

so much for coming. Oh, my gosh. I feel fun. Yeah, you're amazing.

Speaker:

No, you guys. So you should have just the conversation we had before this. I'm

Speaker:

like, we had, like, 12. We had, like, four hours of content. I'm like, I

Speaker:

know. Yeah. That's what I mean. We literally. I was like, we should have had

Speaker:

a camera on the whole time. Yeah, we should. Yes. But you're so

Speaker:

much. And if anyone has questions after the podcast, they can send

Speaker:

me a DM like you. If we miss something or we want to talk more

Speaker:

about it. Yeah, we can bring you back on. Yeah. Or, like, if they have

Speaker:

questions for the. The retreat, we need

Speaker:

to. We need to put this podcast on our Body by Transformation

Speaker:

retreat website, which is bodybybariatrics.com Body by

Speaker:

Transformation. And we're going to put you on there and, like, you'll just send me

Speaker:

some sort of, like, you know, like, picture. I don't do seductive very well. Or

Speaker:

sexy. I'm the author. Like,

Speaker:

yeah, like, I'm like, what? Whatever you want on our website. Yeah. You're not going

Speaker:

to be, like, a standard headshot either. There's. That's just not going to be me.

Speaker:

I'm like, let me just move around and then something will happen. Something will happen.

Speaker:

I think the biggest, like, takeaway is, like, own it, be confident.

Speaker:

And I think, like, every body is beautiful in all the phases

Speaker:

and just, like, have fun with it. Don't overthink the style. You'll figure

Speaker:

it out. Throw it on, play with it. You know,

Speaker:

that's it. It. Yeah. Well, thanks again for.

Speaker:

We're so excited to have you in May for the retreat. I'm excited. Yeah. It's

Speaker:

going to be amazing. We're going to have some really fun stuff going on. So

Speaker:

as always, though, you can find us on Instagram, at the weight loss collab, at
